I’ don’t think that Leopold Bloom wants to be Irish but he does want to fit in. Like Donal, he doesn’t realize how different he is from the Dubliners. In their efforts to fit in both Donal and Leopold try too hard to engage in conversation and debate. They are right not to back down but, in the process, they express too many opinions. They need to listen more.
